Riots put paid to Holland-England friendly

Wednesday’s friendly international football match between England and the Netherlands has been cancelled due to the rioting in London. The match was due to be played at Wembley, but the stadium is located in an area affected by the outburst of violence that erupted on Saturday and has since spread to other English cities.

The Dutch national squad was due to fly to London on Tuesday with coach Bert van Marwijk. In a press release, the Dutch KNVB football association explains:
