AMSTERDAM — Motorists and pedestrians were warned on Thursday to be on their guard for a second day of slippery conditions across the Netherlands.

Rain-covered roads and paths have frozen over and created treacherous stretches of road. This is particularly the case in the east. A cold wind was slowly moving the same problems westward.

There were several traffic accidents in Limburg and other southern regions due to snow showers on Thursday morning.

Icy conditions caused havoc on roads in the Netherlands on Wednesday morning. Insurance companies were notified of 200 car accidents by 10am.
