A drawing by 17th-century Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn has been stolen from an exhibition at a hotel in Los Angeles, writes on its website.

The 28 x 15 centimetre pen and ink drawing called is estimated to be worth 175,000 euros.

The sketch was on display in the lobby of the city's Ritz Carlton Marina del Rey hotel. It is owned by the Linearis Institute, which collects fine art.

The theft took place while the exhibition's curator was distracted by another person. Police are reviewing the hotel's security videos.
