AMSTERDAM — The probable motive for a shooting in a hotel at the weekend stemmed from a problem in a personal relationship, police said on Monday.

A woman, 32, and a man, 45, were seriously injured during the shooting in the lobby of the NH hotel on Danny Kayelaan in Zoetermeer at 1pm on Sunday.

One of the victims was shot in the head from close range and the other was hit in the back. A bystander ducked for cover and used a mobile phone to alert the police.

The victims are residents of Zoetermeer, as is the alleged gunman, 41, who was apprehended by police as he fled the hotel.
