AMSTERDAM – Unions and employers in the regional transport sector have reached agreement on a CAO; regional bus strikes will probably be ended over the course of the day or tomorrow.

The strike started on Monday was initially planned to last all week. Buses would be running during morning and evening rush hour but would remain in the depots between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm each day, and tickets would not be checked. The unions had hoped the action would push the employers to agree to a 3-percent pay rise for drivers.

Negotiations on the collective labour agreement resumed yesterday evening. The employers finally gave in: not only salaries but bonuses will also be increased by 3 percent.
