A record number of books were sold in the Netherlands in 2007.

RIJSWIJK – A record number of books were sold in the Netherlands in 2007. More than 45 million books were sold last year. That is an increase of 4.6 percent compared to a year earlier.

The Collective Propaganda for the Dutch Book Foundation (CPNB) released these figures on Monday.

Consumers spent a total of EUR 568 million on books last year. That comes to an average of EUR 12.60 per book. The sales of books for school and university were not included in the figures.
