AMSTERDAM – Several offices of the Rabobank have actively been approaching ABN Amro customers in an attempt to persuade them to change banks. RTL Nieuws has a number of letters from three locations that were sent to ABN Amro clients.

The Rabobank mentions the unrest regarding "developments in the banking world," like the takeover of ABN Amro. "Challenge us to demonstrate that the Rabobank does things differently," the letter continues.

Despite the fact that at least three different offices have sent these letters, a spokesperson for Rabobank Nederland denies that a coordinated action is taking place. "The 188 banks that form Rabobank Nederland are free to undertake these kinds of actions. The only thing we can do is advise them not to continue." The spokesperson said he regretted the course of events.
