Queen to visit Argentina in March

AMSTERDAM — Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands is to visit Argentina on 30 March to 1 April, the government information service RVD said on Monday.
The Queen will be accompanied by her eldest son, Crown-Price Willem-Alexander and his Argentine-born wife, Princess Maxima.
The royal group will be the guests of President Néstor Carlos Kirchner and the main venue for the visit will be Buenos Aires. Officials are looking at the possibility of a trip outside the capital.
The state visit was originally planned for 2003 to tie in with trips to Chile and Brazil. The royal visit to Argentina was put on ultimately put on hold due to the economic and political turmoil in Argentina at the time.
Princess Maxima made her first official visit to Argentina last year as part of a UN delegation promoting micro-credit initiatives in developing economies. While there, Maxima celebrated the second birthday of her daughter and future Dutch monarch, Princess Amalia.
