Pukkelpop death toll corrected to four
The death toll from the fierce storm that ripped through the Belgian pop festival Pukkelpop has been corrected to four, Belgian media report. Earlier, authorities said five people had died after a violent thunderstorm struck the sold-out festival near the city of Hasselt last Friday.
A patient who was admitted to hospital in a critical condition on the same day - and who subsequently died - was listed as being a victim of Pukkelpop. Hasselt mayor Hilde Claes has admitted the error, various newspapers say. The patient had not attended the festival.
The number of victims with serious injuries, including three Dutch people, has risen to 11, however. Three of the injured are in a critical condition. Authorities say 140 of the 60,000 Pukkelpop-goers have sustained minor injuries.
The three-day Pukkelpop festival, cancelled after the disaster, was set to have featured rapper Eminem and U.S. bands Foo Fighters and The Offspring. US band Smith Westerns was live on stage in the tent that collapsed.
On Sunday a commemoration ceremony was held to pay respects to the dead and their families.
