AMSTERDAM - Edsilia Rombley hopes to represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Festival this year with the song Nooit Meer Zonder Jou. On 10 May she will have to qualify for the finals.

The song was chosen during a live broadcast of Mooi! Weer de Leeuw this weekend.

Edsilia Rombley sang three numbers and the public, a jury and the singer herself voted for their favourite.

This is not the first time that Edsilia is taking part in the Song Festival. In 1998 she came in fourth with the song Hemel en Aarde. That was the highest place achieved by the Netherlands since 1975.

According to tradition the 52nd annual song festival this year will be hosted by last year’s winner Finland.
