Prison for barbeque street terrorists
Two youths have each been sentenced to 12 months in prison for terrorising a group of elderly people in Amstelveen, a town adjoining Amsterdam.
They attacked and beat members of the group, who were taking part in a neighbourhood barbeque. The youths even kicked the head of a man who already lay unconscious on the ground.
An Amsterdam judge said the attack could have resulted in the man’s death and that the youths had committed a “serious kind of street terrorism” which couldn’t be tolerated.
Two other youths who were present at the time were given community service orders. The four youths will also have to pay over 7,000 euros in damages to their victims.
