WASSENAAR - Princess Catharina-Amalia turns four years old on Friday. Number two in line to the throne will be celebrating her birthday at home in Wassenaar.
On 10 December the future queen will start group 1 at the Bloemcamp school in Wassenaar. The child already speaks Spanish, Dutch and some English.
Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima are trying to give Amalia as normal a childhood as possible and have asked the press to cooperate. The girl's father is worried that being followed by cameras all the time would have a negative effect on her life.
The parents therefore want Monday to be as normal a first school day as possible for their eldest child. A few reporters will be allowed to film at the school, but that is the only media presence permitted.
The heir to the throne will undoubtedly have a chance to recover from the new experience when the whole family spends the Christmas holidays in Argentina.
