Telecoms company Pretium Telecom has been fined EUR 87,000 for customer solicitation methods that conflict with Dutch law.

THE NETHERLANDS - Following complaints from customers, the Dutch Consumer Authority conducted an investigation into the company's practices.

It found that Pretium used call centres to approach potential clients unannounced and that it often provided insufficient information about subscriptions and cancellation terms.

The authority also discovered that those called often had no idea with which company they were talking.
