AMSTERDAM — Pregnant with her second child, Princess Maxima is said to be feeling unwell and cancelled a planned visit to Rotterdam on Thursday.

The princess was due to attend the opening of the second Internationale Architectuur Biënnale at the Nieuwe Luxortheater.

Princess Maxima was not feeling well enough to attend the event.

However, the Government Information Service (RVD) said neither the princess nor her unborn child are suffering serious complications

Princess Maxima was also forced to cancel several working appointments when she was pregnant with Princess Amalia in 2003.

The Argentinean-born princess was also advised by medical staff at that time to take an extended period of rest.

Crown Prince Willem-Alexander fulfilled his wife's functions on Thursday, officially opening the art exhibition.

Princess Maxima still has a busy time in front of her, including a visit to Paris on 20 and 21 June for a United Nations meeting over micro credit schemes.

Maxima is due to give birth in July.
