THE NETHERLANDS - A joint research by the police, the Public Prosecutors' Office and local councils in the province of Limburg shows that the negative image many people have of Polish immigrants is misguided.

Tens of thousands of Poles travelled to the Netherlands looking for work after their country joined the European Union. They are often blamed for an increase in crimes such as shoplifting and car theft.

However the research shows that in Limburg at least, Poles are not more criminal than other residents, in fact, they are slightly more well-behaved than their native Dutch counterparts.
