AMSTERDAM – Police and medical personnel are investigating the death of a five-month-old baby who was found dead in her crib at a day care centre in Roosendaal on Thursday.

The police reported this on Thursday. Doctors could not ascertain on Thursday whether the child died of natural causes.

A paediatrician will perform an autopsy on the baby today. The police have started an investigation and are taking statements from the crèche workers.

A crèche worker found the lifeless body of the girl in her crib just after 1 pm yesterday. Other colleagues tried to resuscitate the baby immediately, police say, but to no avail.

Counsellors have been provided to help the parents, crèche workers and others directly involved.
