Police in Dutch province Brabant on Twitter
Residents in southeastern Brabant can now keep up-to-date on the latest crimes using Twitter.
EINDHOVEN—The Police in southeast Brabant are the first in the Netherlands to be active on the popular Internet service Twitter. Residents can now keep track of the most recent crimes being committed in their area via mobile phone.
Twitter is an Internet messaging service that allows groups of people to subscribe, and "follow" each other, posting their latest thoughts or whereabouts.
Nearly all of the announcements made available on the southeastern Brabant police wbesite are now also available via Twitter in a more concise 140 character format. Included in the message is a link to a more detailed announcement on their website, including the phyical appearance of a crime suspect.
Interested Twitter users can subscribe to the Dutch language Brabant service via http://twitter.com/politiebzo.
The police corps in Brabant has plans to further optimize communication with residents in the coming months using the Internet.
