AMSTERDAM - The police have ended a hostage situation on the De La Reyweg in The Hague.
At about 11 a.m. an arrest team forced entry into the home where armed robbers had taken shelter after a failed attempt to rob a shop.
The police arrested four suspects. There were no injuries. The police are investigating how many residents of the house were being held hostage.
The armed individuals had tried to rob a shop in the nearby Dierenselaan. They fired several shots and fled once police arrived on the scene.
Their attempt to escape on a moped failed however and they ran into a nearby home. The police initially thought there were only two robbers, but is not ruling out that four of the people found in the home were involved.
