AMSTERDAM – The special patrol group of the police started the evacuation of eight squats in Amsterdam this morning. The police had evacuated three buildings, one on the Spuistraat, one on the Haarlemmerdijk, and one on the Bilderdijkstraat, by 10 a.m.

A spokesperson for the police says the evacuations have gone smoothly so far.

The special patrol group makes “evacuation rounds” of the squatted buildings in the capital several times a year. The operation began this morning at about 6.00 a.m. The spokesperson said no squatters were found in the buildings on the Spuistraat and the Haarlemmerdijk.
