Police arrest trafficking suspects

9 August 2007, LEIDEN – The police have arrested three men on suspicion of human trafficking. The men reportedly talked two young women from Brazil into coming to the Netherlands, only to force them into illegal prostitution in Leiden.

LEIDEN – The police have arrested three men on suspicion of human trafficking. The men reportedly talked two young women from Brazil into coming to the Netherlands, only to force them into illegal prostitution in Leiden.

The services of the 19 and 20-year-old women were offered on the internet, the police said on Thursday.

The women have pressed charges and been taken to a safe house. The suspects, a 27-year-old man from Leiden and two men from Noordwijkerhout (aged 27 and 29) have been arrested. They will be held for 90 days pending trial.
