GRONINGEN – Hundreds of school pupils demonstrated on the Grote Markt in Groningen on Thursday against the number of hours they are required to spend in class. The police arrested one pupil, a spokesperson has reported.

The children set small fires on the market square and threw spray cans which exploded in the fire. "We let the students have their say, but they do have to follow the rules," the spokesperson said.
