UTRECHT – Dutch police in Utrecht arrested by chance a 44-year-old man on Sunday evening who is wanted in Belgium for laundering more than EUR 13 million. The man is facing a five year prison sentence in Belgium.

The police came across the man, who holds both Dutch and French nationality, by chance during a routine check of his camper van, which was parked in an area where camping is not permitted.

When officers approached the man to assess the situation they "sensed something was up during the conversation," said a spokesperson.

A check of the man's identity revealed that he is wanted in Belgium for money laundering.
