AMSTELVEEN – On Monday night police arrested a third man suspected of involvement in the fatal stabbing of a worker at the Car Check night shop in Amstelveen two weeks ago. The police have already arrested two 16-year-olds in the case, one of whom is still being held.

It emerged that the second suspect arrested was just the owner of the moped the young men used in the attempted robbery. He himself had nothing to do with the fatal incident. The third suspect, a 20-year-old, was arrested in a residence last night after extensive investigation by police. The police have also arrested the 19-year-old man that had provided the wanted suspect with shelter.

The young men are suspected of stabbing 62-year-old Huib Krooder during an attempted robbery on 9 August. He died of the stab wounds shortly after being taken to hospital. The perpetrators did not take anything from the shop in the end.

A team of 25 detectives were put on the case.  Officers managed to arrest one suspect on the day following the attack. The second, who has since been released, was arrested a day later.
