AMSTERDAM — Volkert van der G., who killed politician Pim Fortuyn in 2002, has filed a complaint against De Telegraaf newspaper with the Council for Journalism (Raad voor de Journalistiek).

The murderer from Harderwijk does not like the stories published at www.telegraaf.nl.

According to Van der G., the newspaper is basing its reports on the false allegations of his involvement in another murder in 1996, when an environmental official was killed. The Council for Journalism will consider Van der G.’s complaint Friday.

Van der G. also did not like that De Telegraaf had not asked his opinion before publishing the materials.

On the website of De Telegraaf there is a pdf file containing a report from the Prosecutor’s Office. Van der G. says the report is not meant for public viewing.

The Council for Journalism will voice their stand on the issue, but can not impose any sanctions. Their verdict will be published in the trade journal De Journalist.
