AMSTERDAM – Democrats D66 leader Alexander Pechtold thinks that Geert Wilders, leader of the Party for Freedom (PVV), should make it clear to the public whether his wife holds two passports. Pechtold said this in the Volkskrant today.

Wilders' wife comes from Hungary, but the PVV leader has already refused on several occasions to give clarity on the situation regarding her nationality.

Pechtold: "Wilders is making personal attacks. We shouldn't shy away from that either, and put the inconsistency of his actions up for discussion."

The PVV and Wilders claim that dual nationality should be prohibited. One million Dutch nationals also hold a passport from another country. Wilders thinks that dual nationality may compromise people's loyalty to the Netherlands.
