A man who was suspected of involvement in the killing of three babies and possessing child pornography has been released in the southern Dutch town of Geleen. A spokesman for the judicial authorities said that there is still a degree of suspicion, which is however insufficient to warrant an extended detention.

The 51-year old was arrested last month after three dead infants were found buried in the garden of the house where he lived with his 41-year old partner. She was also arrested and is still in police custody on suspicion of murdering the three babies.
