THE HAGUE – Parliament will hold a hearing on the human rights situation in China, as requested by the ChristenUnie, in light of the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing. The intention is to question sportsmen and women, politicians and people from the business sector.

IOC chairman Rogge and Dutch IOC member Verbruggen could be called to speak. The IOC dismissed yesterday Pieter van den Hoogenband's call for the committee to speak out about the situation in China.

The IOC does not want to go further than say that the Olympic Games will have a positive influence on China.
