Parkpop festival scores in spite of football

THE HAGUE - Parkpop, one of Europe's largest free pop festivals, attracted nearly 250,000 visitors to The Hague on Sunday. This is a big increase from 2007, when the number was 175,000.
Because of the Euro 2008 finals, the event ended earlier than usual, but the organisers say this made it no less of a success. Acts on the three stages included Sheryl Crow, Racoon, The Opposites, Kula Shaker and Moke. There was also an interactive programme with music, dance, sport, workshops and presentations.
This year Parkpop took place at three different locations in The Hague. As a warm-up for the festival, there were performances on Friday and Saturday in the city centre.
