AMSTERDAM — Paradise Now, a movie about two suicide bombers by Dutch-Palestinian director Hany Abu-Assad, has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Film category.

The movie was directed by Dutch-Palestinian filmmaker Hany Abu-Assad. Dutchman Bero Bayer was the co-writer and first producer. The project also had German, French and Israeli co-producers.

It has been entered as a Palestinian film as it was largely shot in the Palestinian territories and the characters speak Arabic.

Paradise Now follows the route two young Palestinians take to become suicide bombers, up to the point they board a bus filled with children in Tel Aviv. The movie has already won a number of awards, including a Golden Globe earlier this month.
