Sunday´s Premier League action saw De Graafschap and Feyenoord draw 1-1 in a match that was thrilling rather than distinguished. Both goals came in the first half, with Hugo Bargas scoring for De Graafschap, and Luigi Bruins equalising with a penalty.

Playing away against FC Twente, FC Groningen, ranking third in the table, suffered its first defeat of the season. The Enschede titleholder beat Groningen 4-2 in what proved to be an exciting fixture. Bryan Ruiz netted the first two goals for Twente, who initially were losing after Andreas Granqvist had scored for FC Groningen. A goal by Marc Janko extended FC Twente’s lead to 3-1. In the final phase, FC Groningen’s Tim Matavz brought back the tension 3-2 before Theo Janssen clinched the 4-2 victory in the 88th minute.

Both FC Utrecht goals were scored by Ricky van Wolfswinkel, who converted two penalties during the match’s first 15 minutes. Siem de Jong did not net Ajax’s only goal until injury time. It was Ajax’s first Premier League defeat since 6 December 2009, when it was beaten 2-0 by the same FC Utrecht.
