Thanks to a crushing 5-1 away victory over sc Heerenveen, and profiting from humiliating defeats for League leaders AZ and thrid-placed FC Twente, PSV have narrowed the gap on AZ to a single point and at the same time have extended their lead over FC Twente to four points. At the start of the winter break, Ajax are now in fourth spot, with 33 points, followed by Feyenoord, with 31.

In the fixture against sc Heerenveen Ola Toivonen 2, Tim Matavz, Georginio Wijnaldum and Marcelo scored for PSV, with Rajiv van La Parra hitting back for the home side. Between 18 and 24 minutes PSV struck three times.

League leaders AZ suffered a dire 2-1 defeat at the hands of NAC Breda. AZ did not score until the last minute of the normal playing time, thanks to Milano Koenders. Anthony Lurling netted the first goal of the match, with Brett Holman grabbing the second on the stroke of half-time. In December AZ have managed to win just four points out of four matches. For NAC it was their first victory in five matches.

Feyenoord beat FC Twente 3-2, handing them their second defeat of the season. A first-half hat trick by John Guidetti provided the basis for Ajax’s victory, though in the second half FC Twente hit back with goals by Nacer Chadli and Luuk de Jong, coming perilously close to equalising.

Ajax have won an easy 4-0 home victory over ADO Den Haag. The goals were scored by Christian Eriksen, Theo Janssen, Dmitri Boelikin and Miralem Sulejmani. From the tenth minute on ADO Den Haag played with one man less after referee Kevin Blom showed Ramon Leeuwin red for a wild tackle on Eriksen. cl
