AMSTERDAM — The number of online job vacancies on the Dutch job market continued to rise this month, with strong growth in marketing and catering. Online vacancies increased strongly for the fourth consecutive month, according to figures released by Monster Employment Index , a monthly barometer of the online job market.

The Index achieved its highest point ever in May, the company announced on Tuesday, rising 7 points in May in comparison to the previous month. The main growth was seen in marketing, PR and media, as well as in catering.

The Monster Employment Index uses data from around 300 Dutch career and company job vacancy sites. It is presently at 155 points, its highest point since recording began in 2004.

“The revival of the Dutch labour market is connected with positive developments in the wider economy,” said Marc de Vries, managing director of Monsterboard.nl. 'The economy has improved strongly in the first quarter of this year, something we predicted from the [earlier] rise in job vacancies.”
