HILVERSUM - Rita Verdonk should found her own party, according to 61 percent of the VVD voters. Roughly one third would vote for that party at an election and another third would consider voting for her party.

This emerged from an opinion poll carried out by current affairs TV programme EénVandaag on Tuesday. The poll included 1,500 people who had voted for the VVD during the last general election in November last year. Eighty-three percent of those voters expect Rita Verdonk to set up her own party.

A poll carried out by Maurice de Hond showed that 67 percent of the VVD voters feel that Verdonk should found her own party. Thirty-nine percent of the people who voted for the VVD in 2006 indicated in the poll that they would most likely vote for Verdonk’s new party.
