VOORBURG – Employers are finding it increasingly difficult to recruit suitable staff. In September 2006 the Netherlands had some 63,000 job openings which were hard to fill. That was one third of all the vacancies.

Figures published by the Statistics Netherlands (CBS) on Monday showed that there were 200,000 vacancies in September 2006. This figure is almost twice as high as in September 2004. The number of vacancies that were difficult to fill tripled in that same period.
