THE NETHERLANDS -- The Delft University of Technology is taking back old computers it donated to schools in Tanzania years ago so they can be recycled in the Netherlands.

The second-hand PCs were transported to Tanzania years ago and are said to have proved a great help to school students there, but are now too old to be of further use.

In Tanzania, the old PCs end up on rubbish heaps.

The old PCs are being brought back to the Netherlands where copper and other expensive components will be recycled.

The university says the logistics of the process are a nightmare, but that the first cargo should arrive back around the middle of October.
