OV-studentenkaart phased out

21st April 2011, Comments 0 comments

New students need to order a personal OV-chip as of June 2011 instead of ordering an OV-studentenkaart card from the Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs.

To compensate students for the EUR 7.50 cost of the personal card, students can travel for free on Good Friday (22 April 2011).

New students filling in the application for a personal card on the OV-chipkaart website (www.ov-chipkaart.nl) will be able to indicate their student status and qualify for free travel on weekends or weekdays. Once the card is activated for use the Dutch train system (NS),  the same student travel rates automatically apply via the chip system.

For questions over your right to have student travel status, then contact the Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (formerly the IB-Groep) on 050-5997755.
