THE NETHERLANDS - The number of students in special schools in the Netherlands has almost doubled in the past 12 years.

In the last school year, there were 65,000 children with a handicap or disorder in special schools for primary or secondary students.

This means that for every 1,000 students, 25 are receiving special education. The vast majority of children in special schools are boys.
