Trade unions and politicians blocked cheaper pay deal for Polish and other Eastern European workers.

THE NETHERLANDS – Plans for a special labour agreement for Polish and other Eastern European workers have been shelved following objections from trade union federations and political parties.

The special pay deal, proposed by agencies which specialise in providing eastern European staff, would have allowed employers to pay Polish workers lower rates than Dutch personnel for working overtime in the evening.
