THE HAGUE – Police will not stage strike actions on Tuesday. The Dutch Police Union (NPB) had threatened on Saturday that strikes would take place and cause hindrance to traffic as a result, but more time is needed to prepare such actions.
The unions are now discussing joint protest actions but will not blockade the motorway. No police vehicles will be used in the demonstrations.
Home Affairs has pointed out to the unions that they are not permitted to use police vehicles in their protests. Nor may the protests endanger public safety or order and all actions must be announced in advance. The NPB said it would not stage any more strikes during first division football matches.
