No deportation of Libyan asylum seekers

Failed Libyan asylum seekers will not be deported for the time being. And no decisions will be made on pending asylum requests filed by people from the troubled North African country.

A spokesperson for Immigration Minister Gerd Leers has said that the about 70 failed asylum seekers from Libya are currently awaiting their deportation from the Netherlands will not have to leave for at least six months. About 200 asylum requests submitted by Libyans are currently being processed. These requests will be put on hold for a year. The minister will send a letter on the issue to parliament soon.
