No budget to solve teacher shortage

19 September 2007, THE HAGUE – Education Minister Ronald Plasterk must find money in his own budget to deal with the impending shortage of teachers. Finance Minister Wouter Bos said this on the television programme Pauw & Witteman on Tuesday. Bos said that Plasterk will have to "leaf through" the education budget to find money to deal with the problem. Plasterk said earlier this month that he may have to reshuffle the budget he submitted on Tuesday.

THE HAGUE – Education Minister Ronald Plasterk must find money in his own budget to deal with the impending shortage of teachers. Finance Minister Wouter Bos said this on the television programme Pauw & Witteman on Tuesday. 
Bos said that Plasterk will have to "leaf through" the education budget to find money to deal with the problem. Plasterk said earlier this month that he may have to reshuffle the budget he submitted on Tuesday.

Plasterk will present plans at the end of October to deal with the serious problem of the teacher shortage. He will adopt the recommendation from the Rinnooy Kan committee as a guideline. This committee advised that an annual investment of EUR 1.1 billion was needed.
