AMSTERDAM — Police arrested in the southern Dutch city of Maastricht on Monday eight men and a woman on suspicion of drug smuggling.
So-called drugs-runners met potential Belgian and French clients on the border to transport them to several homes in Maastricht. The drugs trade occurred at the Maastricht residences, police said.
In several house raids police seized about 10kg of heroin with a street value of an estimated EUR 200,000, several hundred ecstasy pills, a couple of hundred grams of hash, a gun and several thousands of euros in cash.
The suspects — whose identities are still being investigated — are to appear before a judge in Maastricht Court on Wednesday, news service nu.nl reported.
