16 May 2007, EINDHOVEN – The police in Eindhoven arrested nine soldiers this morning for an attack on a 28-year-old man. The suspects beat and kicked the man for no apparent reason, a spokesperson for the regional police said.

EINDHOVEN – The police in Eindhoven arrested nine soldiers this morning for an attack on a 28-year-old man. The suspects beat and kicked the man for no apparent reason, a spokesperson for the regional police said.

The victim fell unconscious and was admitted to hospital. The seven men and two women aged 22 to 32 come from different places in the Netherlands but are all stationed in Oirschot.

The soldiers have been taken into custody and will be handed over to the Marechaussee. The police could give no further details about the victim's condition on Wednesday morning.

The attack took place on the Stationsplein in Eindhoven just after midnight last night. Alcohol may have been involved, said a spokesperson for the Marechaussee.
