THE HAGUE – Social Affairs Minister Piet Hein Donner put a new proposal for amendment to redundancy legislation on the table during the meeting between the cabinet and coalition parties CDA, PvdA and ChristenUnie on Thursday.

Insiders say that CDA minister Donner is prepared to take "significant steps" to meet the objections of coalition partners PvdA and ChristenUnie, if they too are prepared to make concessions.

Donner wants to make it easier for businesses to dismiss people, but the PvdA and ChristenUnie are opposed.
