AMSTERDAM - Prince Willem-Alexander went to the old city hall of The Hague today to register the birth of his third daughter.
In the end the couple chose to name their third child Ariane Wilhelmina Maxima Ines. She will be called Ariane.
There had been much speculation among the public and media about the new princess's name, especially about whether she would be given a name starting with A, like the couple's first two daughters Amalia and Alexia.
The crown prince arrived at the town hall just before 10 am. Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende and councillor of state Herman Tjeenk Willink were present. Deputy mayor Jetta Klijnsma presided over the registration of the child by the municipal offical for the civil registry.
