New homes needed for 1,500 rodents
A parrot park in the town of Veldhoven is looking for new homes for about 1,500 hamsters and other small rodents. The animals found a temporary home in the park after being saved from a pet dealer who neglected them.
A spokesperson for the park said that many of the original 6,000 small rodents were euthanised because they were either sick or aggressive.
Rodent lovers have launched a program to save as many of the small animals as possible. A rodent shelter in The Hague has offered to take in 40 of the little critters.
Any of the Veldhoven rodents who have not found a new home by Tuesday night will be killed and used as food for birds of prey and snakes in animal parks.
