AMSTERDAM — Traffic delays on the A9 motorway at Haarlem on Monday morning were shorter than normal due to the opening of the new A5 motorway over the weekend, the Traffic Information Service VID has reported.

The A5 was constructed to help improve the flow of traffic on the A9, which is notorious for its peak-hour traffic jams. The new freeway connects the A4 and the A9m motorways.
