Netherlands still 2nd in world football rankings

The Netherlands is still ranked number two in the world by FIFA, international football’s governing body. Spain which beat the Dutch squad in the World Cup final remains in the lead.

Both teams have started strongly in the qualifying rounds of the 2012 European Championships. Spain is leading on 1881 points to the Netherlands’ 1683.

Brazil has moved up to third place, pushing down to number four. The Russian squad, under Dutch trainer Dick Advocaat, has risen a whopping 15 places and is now ranked tenth in the world. Croatia, which has risen two places, is just ahead at number nine.
