Netherlands reports second swine flu death
The Netherlands on Friday reported its second swine flu death after a 58-year-old man died in hospitalThe Netherlands – A 58-year-old man is the second person to die of the A(H1N1) flu in the Netherlands on Thursday, announces the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment.
Like the first victim, the man was suffering from another severe condition and was in hospital when he contracted the flu virus.
According to de Volkskrant, 10 swine flu patients were admitted into hospital last week.
It is not clear how many people in the Netherlands have contracted the virus as reporting criteria were changed last week.
The H1N1 precautions, including centralised registration, were scaled down, given the relatively mild nature of the symptoms.
Since the outbreak of the flu in April, 46 patients have been hospitalised and most have left the hospital.
