THE HAGUE (AFP) - The Netherlands pledged EUR 500,000 Wednesday to help Nepal cope with the effects of the worst floods in decades in South Asia.

"The aid will be distributed through the World Food Program and is meant to relieve the serious food shortages in Nepal," Development Aid Minister Bert Koenders said.

Some 300,000 people were affected by the flooding in Nepal and the death toll stands at around 100, the ministry said.
